What is Age Calculator?

An age calculator works out the exact time between a date of birth and another date, breaking it down into years, months, and days. Beyond a simple count, it reveals how many total days and hours you have been alive and how long until your next birthday — handy for milestones, legal age checks, and celebrations.

How to use it

  1. Enter your date of birth using the date picker.
  2. Optionally change the 'age at date' — it defaults to today.
  3. Your exact age, total days and hours lived, and countdown to your next birthday appear instantly.
  4. Copy the result or adjust the dates to test different scenarios.

How age is calculated

Age is computed by counting full years, then full months, then remaining days between two calendar dates. Total days treats every day between the dates as one unit, and the next-birthday countdown finds the closest annual recurrence of the birth date after the target date.

Frequently asked questions

The calculator counts complete years between the dates first, then complete months, then the remaining days. This gives an age like 28 years, 4 months, 11 days rather than a single decimal number.

Yes. Leap years and February 29 birth dates are handled correctly. If you were born on February 29, your birthday is counted on February 28 or March 1 in non-leap years, depending on convention.

It lets you calculate your age on any past or future date, not just today. By default it is set to the current date, but you can change it to find how old you will be on a specific occasion.

The 'Total days lived' figure counts every calendar day between your birth date and the target date, including leap days. Multiply by 24 for total hours, which the calculator also shows.

Age is calculated using calendar dates, so time zones do not change the day-based result. The day shown is based on your device's local date.

Absolutely. Enter any date of birth to calculate that person's age, whether a child, a friend, or a historical figure. The math is the same.
