A tip calculator works out the gratuity on a restaurant bill and splits the total between any number of diners. The tip is calculated on the pre-tax amount, then sales tax and tip are added to the bill to get the total, which is divided evenly. An optional round-up feature rounds each person's share up to the next whole dollar for easy settling.

Tip and split formula
Tip = bill × tipPercent ÷ 100. Tax = bill × taxRate ÷ 100. Total = bill + tip + tax. Per person = total ÷ people (or ceil(total ÷ people) when rounding up). When rounding up, the adjusted total = perPerson × people.
